After the rate hearing held July 29, 2020, the Utah Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved WaterPro’s request to increase by 5% the rates we charge for our culinary water. This is our first culinary rate increase since 2016.
These new rates will be in effect on October 1, which is past the peak usage time for the year. Our customers will see the result of the increase with their November bills.
Why did we increase our rates?
As we mentioned in our July newsletter when we announced the PSC’s public hearing, as a not-for-profit customer-owned utility WaterPro’s main concerns are:
- Covering our ongoing costs for treating and delivering water
- Making sure we have sufficient funds to repair existing infrastructure
Planning to fund future needs for building new infrastructure
How much will your bill go up?
The actual dollar amount of our new rates varies by zones. This is because the cost to deliver to different areas of Draper varies – for example, delivering to higher-altitude zones requires expensive pumping. The new rates are listed on our website under the Rates and Services tab. Be sure to find the correct rates for your location.
If you have problems paying your bill, please contact us and we can work with you.
