Preparing for the Upcoming Irrigation Season

Spring is around the corner, and so is irrigation season. If you have pressurized irriga-tion, now is the time to check that your stop and waste valve is turned to the “off” posi-tion. The stop and waste valve is typically located at the front or side of the property in the park strip. Irrigation water begins pressuring up in early April. As the lines fill, the pressure can surge through the irrigation pipes, potentially damaging sprinkler heads or other irrigation materials. An open valve can also lead to flooding of your yard and home. Homeowners are responsible for protecting their property and sprinkler sys-tems by properly winterizing them.
